At just 15 months old, Tilly Lockey became critically ill with meningococcal septicaemia. Her family was told there was very little hope, but somehow, she survived. 🙏💗

The illness changed her life forever, leaving her without both hands and parts of her lower limbs. As Tilly grew, prosthetics became part of her everyday life — but she wanted more than technology that simply opened and closed. 🦿💙

At eight, she received an Open Bionics Hero Arm. Over the years, Tilly didn’t just use the technology — she helped engineers understand what prosthetic users actually needed, sharing her experiences and ideas to make the devices more practical and capable. ✨

That journey eventually led to a new generation of bionic hands. The technology can respond to muscle signals, offer multiple grip patterns, rotate at the wrist, and even be controlled wirelessly when removed from the arm. 🤖⚡
