💔 ONE NIGHT SHE WAS ON THE BIG SCREEN — HOURS LATER, JADE’S FAMILY HEARD THE NEWS THAT BROKE THEM

Just hours separated two completely different moments in 3-year-old Jade’s life.

On Friday night, her smiling face appeared on the giant screen at Franklin County’s home football game as her community honored her during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

She was in her mother Amber’s arms, surrounded by the love of an entire community.

Hours later, Amber and her husband, Jamie, were facing news no parent should ever have to hear.

Doctors told them there were no more treatments available to stop Jade’s cancer. The focus would now shift from fighting the disease to keeping their little girl comfortable.

Jade has battled a rare cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma for nearly a year. Doctors originally discovered a tumor deep behind her left eye, beginning a devastating journey of chemotherapy and more than six weeks of radiation.

For a time, there was reason to hope.

Her scans showed the tumor shrinking. There was no evidence that the cancer had spread. When Jade completed her final aggressive round of chemotherapy in May, her family believed they might finally be approaching the end of the fight.

But just 16 days later, everything changed.

Jade became critically ill, and doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to the lining around her brain.

Her latest MRI brought even more devastating news. The cancer had become more widespread throughout her brain, leaving radiation and additional treatment no longer possible.

Doctors have told her family that Jade may have only weeks to a couple of months.

For Amber and Jamie, the contrast is almost impossible to comprehend. One night, their little girl was smiling on a football stadium screen while her hometown celebrated her strength. By the next day, they were being told that the fight to stop her cancer was over.

Amber described Jade as the perfect little girl who completed their family. She is also a beloved sister to Layla and Aiden, who were facing the painful task of learning what was happening to their little sister.

“We need God’s love, we need our friends’ and family’s love,” Amber wrote. “We don’t survive this without love.”

Her words reveal a family trying to hold together while facing unbearable pain.

Now, they are no longer praying for a perfect scan or another treatment option.

They are praying for time.

Time for Jade to feel comfortable. Time for smiles and cuddles. Time for more good days than difficult ones. Time for her parents and siblings to make memories they will treasure forever.
