💔 Illinois Mother Faces Charges After the Tragic Death of Her Young Son 🕊️
An Illinois family is mourning the death of 2-year-old Barrett, while his mother, Corie Walsh, 38, faces murder charges in connection with his death. ⚖️💔

According to court documents, officers responding to the family’s home on September 1 found Barrett unresponsive in the basement. A neighbor attempted CPR, but the child was later pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at a nearby hospital. Authorities determined that his cause of death was asphyxia caused by ligature compression of the neck. 🕊️

Walsh was also hospitalized after suffering self-inflicted injuries. According to investigators, she allegedly made disturbing statements about her son before his death. Prosecutors are seeking to keep her in custody as the case moves forward. ⚖️

Her defense attorney, Andrea Lyon, says Walsh was experiencing what she described as a psycH๏τic episode at the time of the tragedy. Lyon also rejected suggestions that Walsh’s interest in the high-profile Lindsay Clancy case was connected to what happened to Barrett. She described any alleged copycat connection as unfounded.

Court documents indicate that Walsh had recently followed the Clancy trial closely and had discussed the case with friends on the day Barrett was found. Prosecutors have also alleged that Walsh had previously considered poisoning her husband. These allegations remain part of the ongoing criminal proceedings. ⚖️🔎

Despite the charges, Walsh’s husband and mother continue to express their support for her, according to her attorney. They were not present at her September 8 detention hearing because it coincided with Barrett’s funeral. 💔🕊️
