💔⚖️ Man Sentenced to 140 Years in Fatal Ambush That Claimed the Lives of Two Fort Wayne Teenagers
A Fort Wayne, Indiana, courtroom has brought a significant chapter to a close in the tragic case involving the deaths of 17-year-old Adaija Armani Okey and 18-year-old Lamarion Jeremiah Bailey, after the man convicted in the case was sentenced to 140 years in prison.
The case stems from the evening of January 29, 2024, when Adaija and Lamarion were sitting inside a parked vehicle on Romy Avenue, just north of downtown Fort Wayne. What appeared to be an ordinary evening quickly became the scene of a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly attack that shocked the community.
According to investigators, two individuals arrived in the area in a vehicle that had been backed into a nearby alley near St. Joseph Boulevard before approaching the parked car. Authorities allege that multiple rounds were fired into the vehicle without warning.
When officers arrived, they found Adaija and Lamarion suffering from fatal injuries. Both teenagers were pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at the scene.
A third person inside the vehicle survived the incident. Investigators said the surviving witness was initially reluctant to speak with authorities out of fear for their own safety. As the investigation progressed, however, additional information and evidence began to emerge.
According to court testimony, investigators reviewed surveillance footage showing a vehicle entering the area before the incident and leaving shortly afterward. Detectives also identified a black Cadillac SUV believed to have been connected to the investigation.
Police traced the SUV to its registered owner, who reportedly told investigators he had loaned the vehicle to an individual he knew as “D White.” Authorities were also provided with a phone number and a social media account á´€ssociated with that nickname, helping detectives further develop the case.
As investigators gathered surveillance footage, witness statements, and additional evidence, prosecutors built the case that ultimately led to a conviction.
Following the conclusion of the trial, the court sentenced the defendant to 140 years in prison, reflecting the seriousness of the offenses.
Although the sentence marks an important moment in the legal process, it cannot erase the profound loss experienced by the families of Adaija and Lamarion.
Friends and loved ones continue to remember the two teenagers for the lives they lived rather than the tragedy that ended them. Community members have described both as young people whose futures were filled with promise and opportunity.
The case also serves as a reminder of the lasting impact violent crime can have—not only on victims’ families but also on witnesses, first responders, and entire neighborhoods.
For those who knew Adaija Armani Okey and Lamarion Jeremiah Bailey, the hope is that they will be remembered for their lives, their dreams, and the love they shared with family and friends.
While the court’s decision concludes a major phase of the criminal proceedings, their memories continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved them, ensuring that neither teenager will be forgotten. 🕊️⚖️💙
