A family from Sheffield is facing an unimaginable ordeal after 35-year-old Fraser Derbyshire became critically ill while traveling in Thailand, leaving his loved ones desperately hoping he can recover and return home to his four-year-old daughter.

According to his family, Fraser had only recently arrived in Bangkok for a trip with a friend when the unexpected medical emergency unfolded.

He was later found unresponsive in his H๏τel room and rushed to a local hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with sepsis, a life-threatening condition that can occur when the body’s response to an infection causes widespread complications.

Medical teams determined that the illness was triggered by an undiagnosed infection affecting one of Fraser’s heart valves. According to his family, the infection had progressed rapidly and spread to his brain before it was discovered.

Relatives believe the original infection may have begun from something as seemingly minor as a small cut or an insect bite, though the exact cause has not been confirmed.

As doctors worked to stabilize Fraser, another challenge quickly emerged.

His family says he did not have medical insurance covering the significant cost of treatment overseas.
