💔 FRANKFORT MOURNS AFTER 6-YEAR-OLD JENNA MENIAS DIES FOLLOWING SCHOOL BUS CRASH

A quiet Frankfort, Illinois, neighborhood became the scene of a devastating tragedy Tuesday afternoon when 6-year-old Jenna Menias was struck by a school bus and later died from her injuries.

The incident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Aberdeen Road, near the neighborhood where Jenna lived with her family.

According to the Frankfort Police Department, officers arrived to find the young girl unresponsive and suffering from serious injuries. Witnesses and first responders immediately began performing CPR and other lifesaving measures before Jenna was transported to a local hospital.

Despite the desperate efforts to save her, Jenna later died.

Images from the scene showed two yellow school buses surrounded by police and emergency vehicles along the residential street. A crowd had gathered nearby, while a small purple backpack could be seen lying in the roadway — a heartbreaking reminder of the young child at the center of the tragedy. 💔🚌

The bus involved belonged to Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 and was transporting students from Frankfort School District 157-C. Several children were reportedly still aboard when Jenna was struck.

Those students were evaluated by emergency personnel at the scene before being reunited with their families. For the children who witnessed the incident, as well as the adults who rushed to help, the afternoon was one they are unlikely to forget.

District 157-C and Lincoln-Way Transportation said they are cooperating with authorities as investigators work to determine exactly what happened.

Frankfort Police acknowledged the profound impact the tragedy has had on Jenna’s family and the wider community.

“This tragic incident has had a profound impact on those involved, their families, and our community,” the department said. “We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this heartbreaking event.”

Frankfort Mayor Keith Ogle also urged residents to keep Jenna’s family, witnesses, and first responders in their prayers.

“Heartbreaking news again involving a child,” Ogle wrote. 🙏

The tragedy comes as Frankfort is still grieving another child’s death. On Sept. 1, 2-year-old Barrett Walsh was found unresponsive inside his family’s home. His mother, Corie A. Walsh, 40, has since been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with his death. Authorities have alleged that the child was found h***ing from a rafter in the basement.

Now, another Frankfort family is facing an unimaginable loss.

The circumstances surrounding Tuesday’s school bus incident remain under investigation. Authorities have not released information indicating that the bus driver has been cited or charged in connection with the crash.

For Jenna’s loved ones, however, the investigation cannot ease the pain of losing a 6-year-old child.

A little girl who should have been growing up, going to school, playing with friends, and coming home to her family is now being mourned by an entire community.

As investigators work to establish what happened, Frankfort is left with grief, unanswered questions, and a family facing a loss no parent should ever have to endure.
