Doctors later diagnosed Kaidie with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), an eye condition that affects many extremely premature babies.

To help preserve her vision, she underwent multiple Avastin treatments.

Her lungs also faced an enormous battle.

Because of her extreme prematurity, she developed Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD), a chronic lung disease common among babies who require long-term breathing support.

For months, oxygen became part of her everyday life.

Every small improvement meant everything.

A little less oxygen.

A few more grams gained.

A stronger heartbeat.

These weren’t ordinary milestones.

In total, Kaidie spent 140 days—nearly five months—in the NICU.
