🥹 After Two Years of Waiting, Little Eleanor Finally Says “Mom”

She was born with seven broken bones.
She has endured 12 fractures in just two years.
And while recovering from major cervical spine surgery, she gave her mother one tiny word that meant everything. 🩷🕊️

For the past year, people have followed little Eleanor’s journey as she has faced challenges far beyond what most children ever experience.

Eleanor lives with osteogenesis imperfecta, commonly known as brittle bone disease, a condition that can make bones extremely fragile and vulnerable to fractures.

She was born with seven broken bones and has experienced 12 fractures during her first two years of life.

Her journey has included hospital stays, therapy and countless difficult days. Most recently, Eleanor underwent major surgery on her cervical spine and is now recovering with a halo device around her head and neck to help stabilize the area while she heals.

But recently, Eleanor gave her mother, Tasha, a moment she had been waiting for nearly two years.

It happened with just one word.

“Mom.”

Tasha looked at her daughter and said the word, expecting perhaps another moment of trying to encourage her little girl to respond.

Instead, Eleanor understood what her mother was asking.

And she repeated it.

“Mom.” 🥹🩷

Tasha’s reaction was immediate.

Her voice in the video captured the sheer surprise and emotion of the moment because she genuinely had not expected Eleanor to say it so clearly.

Then came an explosion of pure mom excitement.

“YES!!!” Tasha shouted.

Her celebration was so loud that it startled Eleanor, causing the little girl to cry.

“I’m sorry, baby,” Tasha joked afterward. “Mama will work on her reaction next time.”

“She heard me. She understood what I was asking her to do. And she repeated it back to me,” Tasha shared.

“I have waited TWO YEARS for a moment like this.”

There is also encouraging news about Eleanor’s recovery.

Her mother says the little girl is getting stronger, growing and continuing with physical therapy. She still has a long road ahead, but each step forward matters.

The family is scheduled to fly back to Atlanta on September 20 for medical appointments. New X-rays are planned for September 22, when doctors will examine how Eleanor’s neck is healing following her surgery.

For Tasha and her family, those images could bring an important next step.

They are praying for beautiful X-rays and continued healing. Most of all, they are hoping the day will soon come when doctors can finally begin discussing when Eleanor will no longer need the halo supporting her head and neck. 🙏🕊️
