The Wade Wilson case has returned to public attention, years after the Florida man was convicted in the 2019 mu#ders of two women on the same day.

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2019?

According to court records, the case centers on Oct. 7, 2019, when Wilson encountered two women in Fort Myers.

Prosecutors said Wilson met Kristine Melton, 35, at a local bar before going with her to her home. Melton was later found d#ad.

Later that same day, Wilson encountered Diane Ruiz, 43, while she was on her way to work. Prosecutors alleged that Wilson persuaded Ruiz to enter his vehicle and subsequently k#lled her.

Ruiz was later found in the area, and investigators connected the events to Wilson.

The prosecution’s case ultimately led to Wilson being convicted of two counts of first-degree mu#der.

THE DEATH SENTENCE

Wilson was sentenced to d#ath for both mu#ders on Aug. 27, 2024.

Florida Supreme Court records show that Wilson appealed the judgment and sentence. His appellate arguments included challenges involving the sentencing process and other legal issues. The state’s highest court addressed those arguments in its written decision.
