MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — Authorities are searching for 13-year-old Jamyla Norwood after she was reported missing and her mother received a series of deeply concerning communications suggesting the teenager may be in danger.

Jamyla was reported missing Monday, according to information provided about the case. The Milwaukee Police Department has classified her as a critically missing person, indicating authorities believe she may be in danger.

Jamyla’s mother became alarmed during a phone conversation with her daughter.

According to her mother, she was speaking with Jamyla when she suddenly heard another female voice in the background. The woman allegedly threatened to “beat Jamyla and push her down the stairs.”

The phone call then disconnected.

Jamyla’s mother said she has been unable to reach her daughter since.

The situation became even more frightening when she began receiving text messages from an unknown number. The messages allegedly claimed that Jamyla was d*ad.

The family contacted police, and authorities began searching for the teenager.

Jamyla was last seen near the intersection of N. 24th Street and W. Burleigh Street in Milwaukee.

Police describe her as Black, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds.

At the time she was last seen, Jamyla was reportedly wearing a pink bonnet, a black T-shirt, blue jeans and yellow-and-black shoes.

Authorities believe she may be traveling on foot because she likely does not have access to transportation.

The circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unclear, and the disturbing messages received by her mother have heightened concerns for the teenager’s safety.

For Jamyla’s family, the uncertainty has been especially painful. A routine phone call with her daughter quickly turned into a desperate search after her mother heard an alleged threat and then lost contact with her.
