🚨 LINDSAY CLANCY TRIAL ERUPTS INTO JURY ᴅᴇᴀᴅLOCK — DEFENSE ACCUSES HOLDOUT JUROR OF IGNORING THE LAW AS VERDICT SLIPS AWAY

The Lindsay Clancy trial took a dramatic turn in Plymouth, Mᴀssachusetts, after the jury became ᴅᴇᴀᴅlocked and Clancy’s defense accused a single juror of refusing to properly apply the court’s instructions on reasonable doubt.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked Judge William Sullivan to remove the juror, arguing that the foreperson’s note indicated the juror had acknowledged having doubts about the case but was refusing to apply those doubts when considering the verdict. The defense argued that the juror was therefore not following the legal instructions given by the court.

Judge Sullivan rejected the request. He said there was no indication that the juror had refused to deliberate, was unable to continue, or had explicitly stated an unwillingness to follow the law. The judge also noted that he had already questioned the jurors about their ability to perform their duties properly.

The dispute came after nearly 40 hours of deliberations spread across seven days. The jury had already informed the court multiple times that it could not reach a unanimous decision, placing the highly watched trial on the brink of collapse without a verdict.

That outcome ultimately arrived Friday, September 4. Judge Sullivan declared a mistrial after the jury failed to reach unanimity. The decision means there is no verdict in the case, and prosecutors must now decide whether to pursue another trial. A further court hearing is scheduled for September 29.

Clancy’s defense has argued that severe postpartum psychosis left her unable to understand the nature and consequences of her actions. Prosecutors have disputed that explanation and maintained that the evidence supports criminal responsibility. The allegations and competing legal arguments remain matters for the courts.

After more than six weeks of testimony and days of tense deliberations, the courtroom was left without the definitive answer everyone had been waiting for.
