🕊️💔 West Texas Family Faces Heartbreak After Flash Flood Claims Life Of Beloved Wife While Husband Fights To Recover
A West Texas family is asking for prayers and support after a tragic flash flood left one loved one gone and another fighting through a difficult recovery.
Dan and Janna Monnich were caught in a catastrophic flash flood near Pandale, Texas, after family members believe they had gone searching for their missing dog.
What began as an act of love quickly became a desperate search.
For days, relatives and rescuers looked for answers, hoping to find the couple safe. Their truck was eventually discovered submerged in the Pecos River, raising fears while the family waited for news.
Then came a moment of hope.
Rescuers found Dan alive after he had endured days exposed to the harsh West Texas environment. He was airlifted to a hospital, where doctors began treating the effects of his ordeal.
But the family’s relief was mixed with devastating grief.
Janna was later found, and she did not survive.
Those who knew the couple say they were extraordinary people who spent their lives helping others. Janna was a retired teacher remembered for her kindness, while Dan, a Vietnam veteran and carpenter, was known as someone who would always lend a hand.
“They were wonderful people who would always be willing to help others,” family friend Amanda shared.
Now, the community is returning that same love and support to the Monnich family.
Dan’s daughter, Heather, said her father faces a long road ahead. He remains hospitalized after suffering severe dehydration and complications from prolonged exposure, leaving him physically weakened and in need of continued care.
However, the family recently shared an encouraging update.
Heather said Dan is beginning to show signs of improvement, including getting his energy back and showing the sense of humor his family knows so well.
The family hopes he will soon be transferred to a rehabilitation facility closer to home, allowing him to continue healing while surrounded by loved ones.
At the same time, they are preparing to say goodbye to Janna — a woman remembered for her compᴀssion, dedication, and the many lives she touched.
For the Monnich family, the road ahead will include both healing and grief.
They are asking for prayers for Dan’s recovery, comfort for their children and grandchildren, and strength as they navigate life without Janna.
A family that spent years caring for others is now receiving that same compá´€ssion from a community standing beside them.
May Dan continue to heal, and may Janna’s memory remain a source of love and inspiration for everyone who knew her. 🕊️
