Baby Mohammad Al-Khatib should have spent his first weeks of life wrapped safely in his mother’s arms, knowing only warmth, comfort, and love. Instead, his story began with unimaginable loss—and extraordinary resilience. 💙

Less than a month old, Mohammad was being breastfed by his mother inside a shelter in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, when the area was struck during the ongoing conflict. The tragic incident claimed his mother’s life, while the tiny infant survived with life-threatening injuries. 💔

To save his life, doctors were forced to amputate one of his legs.

It was a leg that had never taken its first step.

A leg that had never chased a ball, run through a playground, or carried him into the adventures of childhood. 🦋

According to those close to the family, the amputated limb was laid to rest alongside his mother—a deeply emotional reminder of everything the newborn lost before he had the chance to truly begin his life. 🕊️🤍

Now, Mohammad faces a future no child should have to face without a parent.

He is too young to understand the tragedy that changed his life forever. As he grows, he will come to know his mother through family pH๏τographs, treasured memories, and the stories shared by those who loved her.
