💙 Doctors Warned Jackson Might Not Survive — But the Tiny Boy with Brittle Bones Is Now Home

When Jackson Storey was born in Wichita, Kansas, his parents already knew their baby faced an extraordinarily difficult beginning. Before birth, he had been diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), a rare genetic condition that causes bones to be unusually fragile. Doctors could not be certain whether he would survive.
Jackson’s diagnosis was confirmed when his mother, Abby Storey, was 28 weeks pregnant. He was delivered by C-section on March 17 and immediately taken for specialized medical care before being transferred to the NICU.
Because his bones were so fragile, Jackson experienced multiple fractures involving his arms, legs and ribs around the time of his birth and during necessary handling. Even holding her own newborn son required Abby to learn incredibly careful techniques.

For an entire week, Abby had to wait before she was finally able to hold Jackson. Every movement had to be slow and carefully supported.
After eight weeks in the hospital, the little boy was finally strong enough to go home with his family.
Despite everything he had endured, Abby describes Jackson as a remarkably calm and sweet baby. He rarely cries unless he is experiencing a fracture, and his family has learned exactly how to lift and position him safely.
His mother says Jackson even seems to understand how his body needs to be positioned, lifting his shoulders so she can carefully support him underneath.

Now at home, Jackson is beginning to experience the simple joys of childhood—including spending time with his three-year-old sister, Brooklyn. Their growing bond has given his parents even more hope for the future. 💙👶
Jackson’s journey is far from over. Living with OI means his family must continue taking extraordinary precautions to protect his fragile bones. But the little boy whose survival was once uncertain is now home, surrounded by love, family and the gentle care he needs.
Against an uncertain beginning, Jackson continues to show just how precious every milestone can be. 💙✨
