💔🚨 FOREVER 6: THE HEARTBREAKING STORY OF WINTER SKYY JONES AND THE QUESTIONS HER FAMILY NEEDS ANSWERED 🕊️🙏
Winter Skyy Jones was only six years old.
She was non-verbal, autistic, and relied on the adults responsible for her care to make sure she was safe. According to her family, that trust ended in a heartbreaking tragedy when Winter was allegedly left on a daycare bus during a brutally H๏τ Tennessee summer day. 💔
Her family says Winter was supposed to travel between a daycare facility in Cordova and Macon-Hall Elementary. But, they say, she never made it inside the school.
Instead, Winter allegedly remained unnoticed on the vehicle for hours while outdoor temperatures climbed toward 100 degrees.
Her father, Bryan, has said his daughter’s internal body temperature reached 109 degrees.
For a child who could not verbally communicate, the situation was especially devastating. Winter could not simply tell an adult that she had been forgotten. She could not call out and say, “I’m still here.”
She needed someone to notice she was missing.
She needed someone to check the bus.
She needed the adults entrusted with her care to make sure she was safe. 😢
According to her family, Winter was eventually discovered when workers returned to the vehicle later that day. She was rushed to a hospital, but tragically, she did not survive.
Now her family is left with grief — and a painful question:
How could this happen?
Winter’s father has been sharing memories of the little girl behind the tragedy. She loved swimming. She loved dancing. She was described as a happy child whose presence brought joy to those around her. ❤️
Today, Bryan is left writing words no parent should ever have to write about their child:
“Forever 6.”
He also shared a heartbreaking message:
“DADDY LOVES YOU WINTER SKYY JONES.” 💔
Winter’s aunt, Tera Taylor, is also a special education teacher and an autism and neurodivergent advocate. As the mother of a non-verbal autistic son herself, she understands the importance of protecting children who may not be able to communicate when something is wrong.
Her grief has brought another painful question to the forefront:
“Where did the ball drop?”
Was something missed at the daycare? On the bus? At the school? Or somewhere between those responsibilities?
Those are questions Winter’s family desperately wants answered.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation. Action News 5 reported that Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services confirmed its involvement in the case. The outlet also reported that the daycare’s website was suspended and that the facility did not respond to its request for comment.
According to the report, Tennessee childcare facilities are required to use monitoring devices, conduct bus checks, and maintain daily records of those checks. Whether those required safety procedures were followed in Winter’s case is now among the questions investigators and her family are seeking to understand.
Memphis City Council member Jerri Green captured the heartbreak in a simple statement:
“Winter deserved to be safe. She deserved to be protected.”
She deserved to come home. 🕊️
Now Winter’s family must learn how to live with a loss they believe never should have happened.
As they mourn their daughter, niece, sister, and beloved little girl, they are asking for answers — not only for Winter, but for every vulnerable child who depends on adults to keep them safe.
Please keep Bryan, Winter’s mother, siblings, aunt, and entire family in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏❤️
And may Winter Skyy Jones never be remembered only for the tragedy that took her life.
She was a little girl who loved to swim.
She loved to dance.
She brought happiness to her family.
She was here. She mattered. And she will never be forgotten. 💔🕊️
