VATICAN CITY — Pope Leo XIV has delivered a powerful spiritual warning, urging Christians to remain vigilant against what he described as one of the most subtle dangers to the life of faith: becoming so busy with external activities that they neglect their relationship with God.

Speaking during a catechetical address at the Vatican, the Pope noted that many believers focus on work, responsibilities, and even religious duties while gradually losing the habit of prayer, reflection, and genuine trust in God’s presence. He warned that faith can weaken not only through open rejection of God, but also through spiritual indifference and distraction.

“The greatest dangers are often the ones we do not notice,” Pope Leo said. He encouraged Christians to examine whether their daily lives leave room for silence, prayer, and listening to the voice of God. According to the Pope, a faith that is not continually nourished can become routine and lose its transformative power.

The pontiff also cautioned against excessive self-reliance, reminding believers that spiritual growth comes through humility and dependence on divine grace.
