💔🕊️ 10-MONTH-OLD SCOTTIE CROWELL DIES AFTER BEING LEFT IN VEHICLE — FAMILY GRIEVES AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES 🙏
A Kentucky family is mourning the devastating loss of 10-month-old Scottie Crowell after police say the baby was accidentally left inside a vehicle for several hours after she was supposed to be dropped off at daycare.
According to the Madisonville Police Department, Scottie’s grandmother, Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker, picked the infant up from her daughter on the morning of Thursday, August 13. She was reportedly expected to take Scottie to daycare before continuing to Owensboro Health Multicare in Madisonville, where she works as a physician.
Investigators say that did not happen.
Police allege that Fazenbaker forgot Scottie was still inside the vehicle and drove directly to work, arriving at approximately 8 a.m.
The situation was not discovered until roughly eight hours later.
Scottie’s father arrived at the daycare to pick up his daughter, only to learn that she had never been dropped off. He immediately contacted his wife, who then called her mother.
According to police, Fazenbaker ran outside with several co-workers after realizing what had happened and attempted to retrieve Scottie from the vehicle.
But it was tragically too late.
Madisonville Police Maj. Jason McKnight told WEHT that the grandmother and co-workers rushed outside, but Scottie could not be saved.
Police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel responded to the parking lot and attempted lifesaving measures. Despite those efforts, the 10-month-old girl died.
Now Scottie’s parents, Sydni and Micah, are facing an unimaginable loss.
The Kentucky Child Protective Services agency has worked alongside detectives during interviews and the investigation and is expected to remain involved as authorities continue examining the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
Fazenbaker also consented to a blood draw as part of the investigation. Police have said they do not expect the results to reveal anything significant but are awaiting the completion of testing.
An autopsy has been performed on Scottie. Authorities said final results could take several weeks.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence before the case is expected to be presented to a grand jury, which will determine what charges, if any, may be appropriate.
For Scottie’s family, however, the legal process cannot change the heartbreaking reality that their little girl is gone.
She was only 10 months old.
She had an entire lifetime ahead of her.
Her parents are now left with memories of a baby who should have been growing, laughing, learning, and celebrating countless birthdays with them. Instead, they are being asked to navigate a grief no family should ever have to know. 💔
The circumstances of Scottie’s death have also renewed painful reminders about the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles, particularly when temperatures can rise rapidly inside a car.
But behind every headline is a family grieving a child they loved deeply.
Scottie was not simply a case or an investigation.
She was a daughter.
She was a granddaughter.
She was a beloved little girl whose life mattered. 🕊️❤️
Please keep Sydni and Micah, Scottie’s grandmother, and the entire Crowell family in your prayers as they face the days ahead. 🙏💔
Rest peacefully, sweet Scottie. Your life was far too short, but you will never be forgotten. 🩷🕊️
