Denise Pineda spent nearly 25 years helping children learn, grow and believe in their futures.

Now, even after her own life has ended, she is helping five other people have more time with theirs.

Denise was a beloved second-grade teacher and cheer coach in Edinburg, Texas, as well as a wife and mother.

She was only 47.

Her sudden pᴀssing stunned the community that had known and loved her for decades.

According to her family, Denise suffered a severe brain aneurysm rupture after finishing her workday one Thursday.

She had been walking toward her car when she suddenly collapsed. A coworker witnessed what happened and immediately called for an ambulance.

Her brother, Matthew, told KRGV that the aneurysm was so severe there was little doctors could do.

But while Denise’s family was facing an unimaginable goodbye, something remarkable began happening outside her hospital room.

People started showing up.

Friends.

Coworkers.

Parents.

Former students.

Current students.

They came because Denise had touched countless lives throughout her nearly 25 years in education.

When some of her students couldn’t enter the hospital room, they gathered outside her window instead.
