Kaylee was born into a multigenerational Deaf family and was fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Her father shared the heartbreaking news through a Facebook livestream conducted entirely in ASL, describing the moment he received the phone call while in Texas before immediately traveling to Maryland to be with his daughter.
