💔⚖️ GRANDFATHER RELEASED AFTER TRAGIC BOAT CRASH CLAIMS LIVES OF TWO GRANDCHILDREN

A devastating family tragedy on New Jersey’s Barnegat Bay has taken another emotional turn after a grandfather accused in the deaths of his two grandchildren was granted conditional release. 💔

On July 19, 2026, 64-year-old Stephen Schneider was operating his boat after a family dinner when the vessel struck a channel marker. His grandchildren, 9-year-old Mya Bella Golabek and 7-year-old Sigmund Paul “Siggy” Golabek, were thrown into the water. Despite wearing life jackets and receiving CPR, neither child survived. 🕊️💔

Investigators later determined that Schneider had a blood-alcohol concentration of approximately 0.16% — twice New Jersey’s legal limit of 0.08%. Prosecutors argued that the level indicated significant impairment and urged the court to keep him detained. ⚖️

Schneider has been charged with two counts of reckless vessel homicide, along with operating a vessel under the influence and reckless operation of a vessel. He faces the charges as the investigation and court proceedings continue. 🚔

But during his detention hearing, an emotional appeal came from the children’s own parents.

Schneider’s daughter and son-in-law asked the judge to release him, describing him as a loving grandfather and an important part of their family. They emphasized that they were grieving the loss of their children while also facing the devastating reality of potentially losing another family member. 💔🙏

His attorney also told the court that Schneider was deeply remorseful and would not operate a boat or drink alcohol again if released.

Judge Wendel E. Daniels ultimately granted Schneider conditional release. He is temporarily prohibited from operating boats or motor vehicles while completing a court-ordered ᴀssessment. ⚖️

The case remains ongoing, and Schneider is due back in court on September 15.

For Mya and Sigmund’s parents, however, no court decision can undo the heartbreaking loss of their two children. 🧸🕊️

Their family is now left trying to navigate an unimaginable reality — mourning two young lives while facing a difficult legal process involving someone they once trusted deeply. 💔

A family dinner ended in tragedy, and now a grieving family must find a way forward while the case continues through the courts. 🕊️❤️
