Authorities in Georgia have arrested two suspects in connection with the death of 37-year-old bartender Jamal Rashad Parker, whose remains were recovered from the Dog River Reservoir in Douglas County last month.

Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, have both been charged with murder in the ongoing investigation.

Parker’s remains were discovered on May 15 near Highway 166, just outside Atlanta. According to investigators, it took approximately one month before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was able to confirm his idenтιтy through DNA analysis.

Detectives believe Parker was killed inside Baker’s home in Douglasville. During a four-day search of the residence, investigators reportedly removed several items they considered potential evidence, including a reciprocating saw, cleaning supplies, and air fresheners.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact role these items may have played in the investigation. However, Parker’s family has alleged that his body was dismembered before being placed in the reservoir.

“We can’t even have a regular funeral because of his condition,” Jamal’s father, Charles Parker, told local media. He also said he hopes those responsible are held fully accountable.

Investigators have not explained how Parker knew the two suspects. However, a GoFundMe organized by his uncle, Darryl McCoy, stated that Jamal was allegedly killed by people he “knew and trusted.”

McCoy described his nephew as “a beautiful soul and spirit” who loved music, art, and working as a professional bartender, where he enjoyed creating unique drinks for others.

Court records also show that Barber and Baker had previously faced charges in unrelated cases involving idenтιтy theft, forgery, and drug offenses. Investigators further allege they possessed stolen driver’s licenses and produced fraudulent identification documents and license plates.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details regarding a possible motive.

Jamal’s family continues to seek justice while remembering him for the kindness, creativity, and joy he brought to those around him.
