For Chelsea, Benjamin Lee Faulk was not simply a name that would appear in a crash report.

He was the man who brought her peonies from Trader Joe’s just because he knew she loved them. He was the man who folded socks because he knew she hated pairing them. He cooked dinner every night, kept fresh flowers on the counter and insisted on opening doors for her.

He was the man she believed she would spend the rest of her life with.

Now, she is mourning him after a fatal highway collision in Texas—and investigators are asking the public for help finding the driver who left the scene.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 36-year-old Benjamin Lee Faulk was changing a damaged tire on a travel trailer around noon on September 7 along State Highway 172 near La Ward in Jackson County when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver did not stop, according to authorities.

Chelsea, who is from New Braunfels, has since shared a deeply personal tribute describing the man behind the tragedy.

She remembered Benjamin for the seemingly ordinary things that made their relationship special. He never raised his voice at her. He listened to her feelings without making her feel dramatic. He even ate Taco Bell despite not particularly enjoying it—simply because Chelsea did.

“You’re so perfect. In every way possible,” she wrote.

And perhaps most painfully, Chelsea wrote about the future they never got to finish.

“We weren’t done going on adventures. I didn’t have you long enough. It’s not fair.”

Those words capture the heartbreak left behind when a life is suddenly interrupted. There were still plans, routines, trips and countless ordinary days that Chelsea expected to share with Benjamin.

Instead, she is now facing those days without him.

Chelsea also described being there as Benjamin took his final breaths, an experience that has left her and his family searching for answers as they try to understand what happened.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking anyone who may have traveled along State Highway 172 near La Ward around approximately noon on September 7 to come forward with information that could help investigators identify the vehicle and driver involved.

For Chelsea, finding that person is about more than an investigation.

It is about accountability—and about allowing Benjamin’s family to understand how the man they loved was taken from them.

Benjamin was someone’s son, someone’s loved one, and the person Chelsea believed she had finally found after dreaming of that kind of love for years.

She says she did not have him long enough.

And now, she is asking for help.
