💔 Family Shares 12-Year-Old Boy’s Story After Viral Online Challenge Leaves Him Facing Long Recovery

A South Texas family is sharing their heartbreaking experience in hopes of helping other parents recognize the dangers children may encounter online.

Pauline and Jerry Peralez say their 12-year-old son, Alexaiden “Alex” Peralez, suffered severe burns after attempting what the family describes as a viral YouTube fire challenge.

According to his parents, their family had strict rules regarding online content, including limiting access to YouTube. However, they say Alex was able to access the platform through their smart TV, and within moments, a dangerous situation unfolded.

The family says an alcohol bottle ignited, resulting in an incident that caused extensive burns across a large portion of Alex’s body. The injuries required immediate medical attention, and he was transported to the pediatric burn unit at University Hospital in San Antonio.

Doctors have already performed surgical treatment to help manage his injuries. His family says medical teams are carefully monitoring his recovery and evaluating the additional procedures he may need in the future, including possible skin graft treatments.

Alex’s journey ahead will be challenging. His family says he is expected to face multiple procedures, months of rehabilitation, and a long recovery process as he works toward healing.

Despite the pain and uncertainty, Alex’s parents are focused on turning their difficult experience into a message of awareness. Jerry says he wants other families to understand that even parents who set boundaries and try to protect their children can still face unexpected dangers from online trends.

“This is about helping other parents be aware,” his family shared.

They hope Alex’s story encourages families to talk openly with children about online challenges and the risks behind viral trends that may appear harmless but can lead to serious consequences.
