💔 For nearly a year and a half, 15-year-old Nevaeh has been fighting leukemia — and now her family is facing one of the most frightening setbacks yet.

Her mother, Angie, is once again asking the prayer warriors who have followed their journey to rally around her daughter.

Angie says recent testing shows that 97% to 100% of the cells now being seen in Nevaeh’s blood are blasts, and her doctor believes the leukemia is “taking off again.”

This is Nevaeh’s fourth battle against AML since her treatment began in February 2025.

The teenager has already endured chemotherapy, countless blood and platelet transfusions, serious infections and a bone marrow transplant from her brother. After another relapse, the family was told by hospitals back home in New York that there were no more curative options they could offer.

Angie refused to believe that meant the end.

She took Nevaeh more than 1,500 miles to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after doctors there offered another treatment possibility.

There were moments of hope.

After arriving at MD Anderson, Nevaeh’s leukemia had dropped from 96% of her bone marrow to much lower levels during treatment. Her family celebrated those signs that the treatment might be working.

But the journey has continued to bring frightening complications.

Nevaeh experienced repeated episodes of left-sided paralysis, numbness in her face and tongue, severe migraines and vomiting. Doctors performed scans, but the cause of those episodes remained unclear.

Now, after Nevaeh completed a second cycle of a Ziftomenib-based treatment, the latest numbers have moved in the direction her family desperately feared.

A CT scan has also revealed nodules in both of her lungs. Angie says doctors believe they are related to the disease and are hoping chemotherapy will make them respond.

Nevaeh has needed oxygen and has experienced nosebleeds that lasted more than an hour.

For Angie, the emotional weight has become almost impossible to hide.

“I’m tired of pretending I’m okay,” she wrote. “I’m tired of watching my daughter suffer and having to sit there and tell her everything is going to be okay when I don’t know if it will be.”

And beneath all the medical terminology and treatment plans is a mother asking for something heartbreakingly ordinary.

“I want my daughter HOME. I want her healthy. I want her annoying me. I want her arguing with me. I want her sleeping in her own bed and complaining about school.”

That is the future Angie wants back.

On Tuesday, September 8, Nevaeh is scheduled to undergo another bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap with chemotherapy — another major moment in a fight that has already demanded so much from this teenager and her family.

For 18 months, people have stopped to pray whenever Nevaeh’s name was shared.

Now her family is asking them to do it again.

🙏 Pray that the new treatment reaches the leukemia the previous treatment could not control. Pray for the nodules in Nevaeh’s lungs, her blood counts and her exhausted body.

Pray for strength during her procedures and for doctors to find a path forward.

And please pray for Angie, who has spent so much time away from her other children because she refuses to leave Nevaeh’s side.
