👶💖🙏 Baby Isla’s First 92 Days Have Been Spent in a Hospital as Her Family Prays for a Life-Changing Surgery

While most newborns spend their first months surrounded by family at home, baby Isla Moon has experienced a very different beginning. Since the day she was born in South Texas, every one of her first 92 days has been spent inside Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, where a dedicated medical team continues working to give her the healthiest future possible.

Before Isla was born, prenatal examinations suggested she might have an intestinal blockage. However, after her arrival, doctors discovered a far more complex medical condition than anyone had anticipated.

Specialists found multiple serious abnormalities involving her small intestine, including a twisted section and an extremely rare congenital condition affecting a significant portion of her digestive system. Faced with difficult decisions, her surgical team carefully developed a treatment plan designed to give as much of her intestine as possible the opportunity to recover before proceeding with additional surgery.

Over the past three months, Isla has been unable to receive nutrition in the usual way. Instead, she has relied entirely on specialized intravenous nutrition while remaining under close medical supervision.

Despite these enormous challenges, Isla has shown remarkable determination. Born weighing only 3 pounds and 8 ounces, she has steadily grown to more than 7 pounds, giving both her family and medical team renewed hope as they prepare for the next stage of her treatment.

Now, doctors are preparing to perform another important operation that could significantly influence Isla’s future. Her parents, Alyssa and Larry, along with relatives from Harlingen, Texas, are hoping surgeons will discover more healthy intestine than originally expected, creating additional opportunities for long-term recovery.

Even with a positive surgical outcome, doctors have explained that Isla may continue living with short bowel syndrome, a condition that can require specialized medical care throughout childhood and beyond.

Throughout her journey, family members have been overwhelmed by the compᴀssion shown by friends, healthcare professionals, and supporters who continue sending encouragement during this challenging time.
