On December 4 2022 and again roughly ten days later, Clancy contacted the Aspire suicide H๏τline and was told both times that because she did not articulate a concrete plan to harm herself she did not qualify for a higher level of intervention.

Those contacts remained completely invisible to Dr. Jennifer Tufts, the outpatient psychiatrist who saw Clancy exclusively through video screens and conducted her final session on January 23 2023. When the defense introduced the H๏τline logs during cross-examination, Tufts expressed clear surprise and confirmed she had never inquired about crisis-line usage.

The revelation lands with particular force because Clancy had already demonstrated a pattern of seeking help: emergency-room visits, a five-day voluntary admission to McLean Hospital where she was diagnosed with major depression without psycH๏τic features, and repeated reports of insomnia, emotional numbness and fear that medication was making her worse. Defense experts argue the rejected H๏τline calls prove Clancy was actively reaching for ᴀssistance while her condition deteriorated beneath the surface of brief telehealth appointments.

Prosecution experts maintain that the lack of any reported plan or command hallucination in contemporaneous records supports their view that Clancy remained capable of understanding the wrongfulness of her later actions. The jury has now heard both narratives side by side. What no one disputes is that the two calls existed, that they were turned away, and that the doctor writing prescriptions and adjusting dosages never saw them until they exploded in open court.
