When Demi Crozier unexpectedly went into labor at just 26 weeks pregnant, she feared she was about to lose everything she had dreamed of.

Only 24 years old, Demi, from Newcastle, England, had already overcome one major obstacle on her journey to motherhood.

She had previously been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can make becoming pregnant much more difficult.

So when she discovered she was expecting, it already felt like a miracle.

Then came another surprise.

Her ultrasound revealed not one baby…

But identical twin girls. 💕

Aside from more frequent prenatal appointments and one baby measuring slightly smaller than expected, the pregnancy had been progressing well.

Until everything changed.

💔 At just 26 weeks, Demi suddenly went into labor.

“I was awake all night and told my mum I thought I was in labor,” she recalled.

“We rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital, and doctors told me I was already eight centimeters dilated.”

The news was terrifying.

“I didn’t want my babies to arrive so early,” Demi said.

“I had only just found out they were girls, and I hadn’t even had time to prepare anything for them. I felt completely overwhelmed.”

Soon afterward, her tiny daughters entered the world.

Aarielle weighed only 566 grams.

Her sister, Aabriella, weighed 822 grams.

Together, they weighed less than many full-term newborns.

Then came an even more frightening moment.

🩺 Aarielle was born still inside her amniotic sac.

She had no heartbeat.

Doctors immediately began working to save her.

For nearly an hour, the medical team fought to bring the tiny baby back.

Finally…

Her heart began beating again.

She was quickly transferred to Freeman Hospital for emergency heart surgery, while her sister remained in the neonatal intensive care unit receiving specialized care.

For their family, every minute became precious.

Although the twins had arrived 14 weeks early, they refused to give up.

Day after day…

They kept fighting.

Every gram gained.

Every breath taken.

After spending nearly three months in the hospital, both girls became strong enough to go home.

They still required breathing support, but they were finally where they belonged—

Aabriella loves falling asleep in her family’s arms.

Aarielle, once weighing just 566 grams, had grown to 4.9 kilograms by 11 months of age.

Although the girls were still learning to sit independently, their specialists were thrilled with how far they had come.

Every milestone represented another victory.

Another reminder of how much they had overcome.

“Although Aabriella and Aarielle still can’t sit up by themselves yet, their specialists are incredibly happy with the progress they’ve made,” she shared.

“They’re doing amazingly well.”

Looking back on everything they endured, she still struggles to believe how far they’ve come.

“To me, Aabriella and Aarielle are little miracles,” she said.

“Even after almost a year, I still can’t believe they’re here. We’re so excited to celebrate their very first birthday together in a truly special way.” 🎂
