The Ugly Stepsister (2025)

In a twisted fairy-tale kingdom where beauty is the ultimate currency, The Ugly Stepsister delivers a dark, satirical body horror that flips the classic Cinderella story on its head.
Lea Myren stars as Elvira, the overlooked and “ugly” stepsister who becomes obsessed with winning the heart of the poetic Prince Julian. When her ambitious mother Rebekka (Ane Dahl Torp) marries into a new family, Elvira finds herself living in the shadow of her stunning stepsister Agnes (Thea Sofie Loch Næss), the picture-perfect Cinderella figure.

Fueled by jealousy, societal pressure, and her mother’s ruthless encouragement, Elvira resorts to increasingly extreme and gruesome measures to transform herself into the belle of the ball. Her younger sister Alma (Flo Fagerli) watches the chaos unfold as the competition for physical perfection turns bloody and horrifying.

With sharp social commentary on beauty standards, self-mutilation disguised as self-improvement, and the dark side of ambition, this gripping black comedy horror will leave you questioning how far you’d go for love and acceptance. Directed by Emilie Blichfeldt in her feature debut.
A must-watch for fans of clever fairy-tale retellings with teeth.
