SCARLETT UPDATE: NEW WOUND TREATMENT, SWELLING AND A CLOSE EYE ON HER RECOVERY

Scarlett’s family says there isn’t a major change to report, but several smaller developments are being monitored closely.

Her care team recently recommended Aquacel AG, a silver-containing wound dressing, as they look for ways to manage the bacteria affecting her wounds. Her family has also been trying a new ointment, but after Scarlett developed redness and what appeared to be a reaction, they stopped it and returned to her previous gentamicin treatment.

Another concern is swelling around Scarlett’s right groin area that appeared recently. Her pediatrician was unable to determine the exact cause, with possibilities including an infection beneath the skin or swelling involving a nearby lymph node.

For now, Scarlett has started amoxicillin and is scheduled to see her surgeon next Tuesday. Her G-tube site will also be checked during that appointment to make sure it continues healing properly.

There may be setbacks and unanswered questions along the way, but her family is continuing to watch every change carefully and work closely with her medical team.

And despite everything, the biggest update is this: Scarlett is still fighting, and her family is still holding onto hope. ❤️🙏
