Two Dogs Found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in Crates Without Food or Water — Ohio Woman Faces Animal Cruelty Charges

A disturbing case of animal neglect has shocked residents in Cincinnati, Ohio, after authorities discovered two dogs ᴅᴇᴀᴅ inside crates and three others living in severe distress. The investigation has led to the arrest of 60-year-old Angela Dodson, who now faces serious criminal charges.

According to court documents and investigators, the dogs were allegedly left confined for an extended period without access to food, water, or proper care. When authorities arrived at the property, they found two dogs had already died inside their crates under heartbreaking circumstances. The surviving animals were also in alarming conditions: one was trapped between a window and plywood, another was locked inside a room with no food or water, and a third was suffering from a visible injury to its paw.

All three surviving dogs were rescued by the Hamilton County Dog Warden’s Office and taken into protective care. Animal control officers described the scene as one of clear neglect, with the animals showing signs of prolonged suffering due to lack of basic necessities.

Dodson was arrested on June 6 and charged with one felony count of animal cruelty along with four misdemeanor counts related to the mistreatment of companion animals. Prosecutors allege that she caused serious harm to at least one dog by intentionally leaving it locked in a crate without food or water, resulting in prolonged pain and eventual death. A second dog is also reported to have died under similar circumstances.

The case has drawn attention to the ongoing issue of animal neglect and the importance of community reporting. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the conditions at the property as the legal process moves forward. Dodson is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Municipal Court as the case proceeds.

Animal welfare advocates emphasize that no animal should ever be forced to endure hunger, thirst, or neglect. Cases like this highlight the critical role of vigilant neighbors, animal control officers, and stronger enforcement of animal protection laws in preventing unnecessary suffering.

While the investigation and legal proceedings continue, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the animals involved and raising awareness about the signs of neglect. Authorities encourage residents to report suspected cases of animal cruelty so that vulnerable animals can be rescued before it is too late.
