Mom Woke Up to a Shocking Surprise After Giving Birth in Her Sleep

When Carolina Moreno went into the hospital to welcome her third child, she never imagined she would sleep through the moment her baby was born.
After being induced, the Canadian mom received antibiotics because she had tested positive for Group B Streptococcus (GBS). As labor progressed, she was given an epidural, but it took much longer than expected to work. Once the pain finally eased, Carolina drifted off to sleep while her husband and family stayed by her bedside.
As nurses continued monitoring the baby’s heartbeat, alarms repeatedly sounded when they struggled to detect it. At first, no one was overly concerned because the baby had been moving around frequently throughout labor.

But when a nurse still couldn’t find the heartbeat several minutes later, the mood in the room quickly changed.
As Carolina rolled onto her back, the nurse noticed something unusual. Moments later, while adjusting her legs, Carolina felt something beneath the blankets.
To everyone’s shock, the baby had already been born—completely unnoticed.
He was lying face down under a pile of blankets, quiet and motionless. Terrified, Carolina feared the worst as the nurse quickly picked him up and gently stimulated him until he finally began to cry.
“The nurse didn’t deliver him; he delivered himself,” Carolina later said. “None of us realized he was already out.”
Although the experience left her feeling deeply shaken, doctors confirmed that her newborn son was perfectly healthy. Now three months old, he has grown into an easygoing, calm baby who still loves to sleep and rarely cries.
Looking back, Carolina says she feels incredibly fortunate that despite the frightening moments surrounding his birth, her little boy arrived safely and is thriving.
