Luka’s journey began far too early — and with more uncertainty than any parent should have to face.

Born at just 25 weeks gestation, Luka weighed only 1 pound 12 ounces. He arrived alongside his twin brother, London, on July 4, 2022, after his mother experienced serious pregnancy complications related to preeclampsia. 🎆👶

From his very first moments, Luka had to fight for every breath.

Sadly, his twin brother London survived for only two days before pᴀssing away. The loss devastated the family, but they now hold onto the beautiful belief that London remains Luka’s guardian angel, watching over him from above. 🕊️💙

Luka’s own NICU journey was filled with challenge after challenge. He battled a lung bleed, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, required multiple blood transfusions, and later underwent hernia surgery. He also faced Stage 2 retinopathy of prematurity.

Yet despite everything, this tiny baby refused to give up.

Doctors and nurses at Novant Health Hemby NICU affectionately nicknamed him “The Incredible Hulk” because of the strength he showed despite his incredibly small size. 💪💚

After 84 days in the NICU, Luka finally reached a moment his family had been waiting for — he was strong enough to go home. He still needed oxygen, but being surrounded by his parents and the comfort of home marked the beginning of a new chapter. 🏡❤️

And Luka kept proving just how strong he was.

With continued medical care, love, and support, he gradually grew stronger. The oxygen eventually became unnecessary, and the once-fragile premature baby began thriving.

Today, Luka is a happy, growing child who continues to reach milestone after milestone. 🥹✨

His family remains incredibly grateful to the doctors and nurses who cared for him throughout his NICU journey. Their dedication and compᴀssion helped support Luka and his family during some of the most difficult days of their lives.

For his parents, Luka’s progress is more than a series of milestones. Every smile, every breath, and every new achievement is a reminder of how far he has come.
