Heartbreaking Surveillance Video Shows Bronx Teen Running for His Life Before Fatal Shooting

Distressing security footage has captured the final moments of a 15-year-old boy as he sprinted desperately through a Bronx neighborhood just before being sH๏τ and killed on his way to school. Javits Frimpong collapsed after suffering a gunsH๏τ wound to the stomach and later died from his injuries, in an attack his father believes may be connected to bullying at school.
The incident took place around 9:25 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, near East 171st Street and Third Avenue in the Claremont section of the Bronx, only a short distance from the teenager’s home. Video obtained by news outlets shows Frimpong running along the sidewalk next to another person dressed completely in black. The individual in black then stops and turns away, while the 15-year-old continues fleeing before falling to the ground.

Frimpong, who had recently immigrated to the United States from Ghana, was a tenth-grade student at DreamYard Preparatory School. He was making the short walk to class when the attack occurred. After being sH๏τ once in the abdomen, he was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. He was initially described as being in stable condition but later succumbed to his wounds.
His father, Thomas Frimpong, 60, said school officials had contacted him only two days earlier to report that his “very quiet” son was being bullied. Two boys involved in a physical confrontation with Javits had been suspended. The father believes the shooting is linked to that ongoing conflict. On the morning of the attack, the principal called again with the devastating news that his son had been sH๏τ. Thomas Frimpong described rushing to the hospital and then having to inform relatives still living in Ghana, where the family was left in deep grief.

Police reported that three males wearing all black, believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, fled the scene after the gunfire. Witnesses described seeing masked individuals in dark clothing running into a nearby park. One neighbor who observed the events from a window said two boys ambushed the teenager, sH๏τ him, and then ran off. He noted that the injured youth remained on the ground for a significant period before a woman from a nearby shelter called emergency services.
As of the most recent updates, no arrests have been made and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. The killing has shaken the local community and members of New York’s West African diaspora.
