Two-week-old Muhammad Nafi was born with a mᴀssive tumour on the right side of his face, causing his head to take on a striking heart shape. The rapid growth has drastically swollen and misshapen his skull, leaving the right side of his face severely deformed and his brain partially exposed. Doctors have described the case as extremely rare and highly complex.

Muhammad is the second child of 22-year-old Mailani and 32-year-old farmer Buasin. During pregnancy, Mailani experienced nausea from the fourth month onward, but because the family lives in an isolated area far from proper medical facilities, she relied on basic medicine from local village shops. There were no major warning signs until the birth.

Born weighing a healthy 7 pounds with the help of a midwife, Muhammad’s condition became immediately apparent. His parents were stunned by the enormous growth that had developed in the womb. Since birth, the tumour has continued to grow rapidly, affecting his right eye and overall development.

They must wait until he is at least three months old, as the tumour has left part of his skull unformed and his brain vulnerable.

“I am confused about what I have to do with my son. I can only submit myself to fate,” his mother Mailani said with deep sorrow. His father Buasin added, “What else should I do? I’m completely flustered. I can only be resigned to accept it.”

Despite the overwhelming challenges, the family refuses to give up hope. They are now desperately raising funds to cover Muhammad’s future treatment and surgery. Local government support has been limited, and the medical costs for such a complex case are far beyond what this farming family can afford.
