FIFTH ARREST REPORTED IN HILTON HEAD BEACH CASE AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

A fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with the July 4 incident at Coligny Beach on Hilton Head Island that left eight people injured, according to local authorities.

The latest arrest involved Jacob Malik Johnson, 22, of Beaufort, who was taken into custody on a warrant alleging aggravated breach of peace. His arrest followed four earlier arrests connected to the incident.

Investigators have said the incident began with a confrontation between two groups before the situation escalated, and authorities continue examining the circumstances surrounding the injuries and the people involved. Police have also indicated that additional arrests or charges could follow as the investigation develops.

The case remains ongoing, and allegations against those arrested have not been proven in court.
