Father of Uvalde Victim Launches Legal Fight Against Gun Manufacturer in Search of Accountability
UVALDE, TEXAS — 💔⚖️ Nearly four years after the devastating mᴀss shooting at Robb Elementary School, the father of one of the young victims has launched a major legal effort aimed at holding a gun manufacturer accountable.
Alfred Garza, whose daughter Amerie Jo Garza was among the 21 victims killed during the May 24, 2022 attack, has hired the nationally recognized law firm Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder to investigate potential legal claims against Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the rifle used in the shooting.
The Connecticut-based firm is widely known for securing a historic $73 million settlement from Remington on behalf of families affected by the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mᴀssacre. That case focused on allegations that the company’s marketing practices contributed to the promotion of military-style weapons to vulnerable consumers.
Now, attorneys are pursuing a similar strategy in connection with the Uvalde tragedy.
According to legal filings, Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder have submitted peтιтions seeking communications between Daniel Defense and the shooter, Salvador Ramos, before the attack. The firm is also requesting marketing materials and promotional content that may reveal how the company advertised its products, particularly to younger audiences. 🔍
The legal action is considered an early step toward a possible lawsuit. Attorneys hope the information obtained will help determine whether the manufacturer’s marketing or sales practices played any role in the events leading up to the shooting.
For Alfred Garza, the effort is deeply personal.
On the day of the attack, Garza, a paramedic, responded to Robb Elementary School hoping to help victims and provide emergency ᴀssistance. Instead, he was confronted with the devastating news that his own daughter had been killed. 💔🕊️
Since then, Garza has repeatedly stated that his mission is to honor Amerie’s memory by helping prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future.
Attorney Josh Koskoff has emphasized that the investigation seeks transparency and accountability. He stated that if Daniel Defense wishes to support affected families, it should fully cooperate and provide requested information without delay.
Daniel Defense has expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, saying the company remains committed to cooperating with law enforcement investigations.
Meanwhile, additional survivors and community members have filed similar peтιтions, signaling a broader effort to examine the role firearm manufacturers may play in mᴀss shootings and whether existing laws provide sufficient oversight.
The outcome of the case could have significant implications for future litigation involving gun manufacturers, firearm marketing practices, and corporate responsibility. Legal experts across the country are closely watching developments, recognizing that the results may influence future policy debates and legal strategies nationwide.
For Alfred Garza, however, the fight remains centered on one thing: ensuring that his daughter’s legacy helps protect other children from experiencing the same tragedy. 🌹💔
