Doctors discovered the infant was in heart failure and quickly diagnosed him with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare and severe congenital condition in which the left side of the heart does not develop properly. The devastating diagnosis changed everything for his family in an instant.

Within days, Tobias was surrounded by intensive medical care, hospital monitors, and emergency procedures as specialists prepared him for the surgeries needed to keep him alive. Before he was even three weeks old, the tiny newborn had already undergone major life-saving operations.
