Cowboys get more brutal injury news on Dak Prescott

The diagnosis of Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury isn’t looking too good.

The Cowboys quarterback’s hamstring tendon partially tore off the bone (partial avulsion), and the recovery time for an injury of that nature can be more than four weeks, according to a report from NFL Network.

Prescott is now looking for additional medical opinions.

During an interview with 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said: “It’s likely we’ll IR [Prescott] and we’ll see how his rehab goes.

Prescott’s injury occurred in the third quarter of Sunday’s 27-21 loss to the Falcons.

“I felt it when I was getting up from the run. I can’t even say I felt it running. Maybe it was the tackle or something on the tackle,” Prescott said about the issue, according to the Cowboys’ team website. “When I was standing up from that, I felt something but didn’t think it was much. It was a physical game and, a lot of times, you feel different things and then they go away.”

Cooper Rush is expected to start for the Cowboys on Sunday when Dallas plays the Eagles at AT&T Stadium.

“It really doesn’t change anything with us. Even speaking with Dak earlier, this is about the quarterback room. We’ve always invested all the time and energy into the quarterback, Dak, that has the football,” Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told reporters this week, per ESPN. “So now it’s Cooper’s turn, and Dak will be part of that process. We’ll rally around him and make sure that we do everything we can to make sure that he’s prepared. We’ll just keep going about it the way we’ve gone about it.”
