Caleb Flynn, a former “American Idol” contestant and pastor, has been found guilty in the case involving the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn, in Ohio.

A Miami County jury returned its verdict on September 29, 2026, finding Flynn guilty of aggravated murder along with additional charges involving murder, felonious ᴀssault and tampering with evidence. He had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors alleged that Ashley Flynn was killed at the couple’s Tipp City home in February and that the scene was made to appear as though an intruder had entered the residence. Flynn had told authorities that a burglar was responsible.

During the trial, prosecutors presented extensive digital evidence, including messages between Flynn and a woman with whom he had been having an affair. Prosecutors argued that those messages demonstrated hostility toward Ashley and helped establish a motive.

The defense acknowledged Flynn’s affair but maintained that infidelity did not prove he committed the crime. His attorneys argued that investigators had focused on him after discovering the relationship and that there was not sufficient direct evidence linking him to the killing.

The jury deliberated for a little more than two hours before reaching its verdict. Flynn was taken from the courtroom in handcuffs after the decision was announced.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 5, 2026. According to NBC News, Flynn faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.

Flynn appeared on the 12th season of “American Idol” in 2013, receiving a golden ticket to Hollywood before being eliminated during the compeтιтion.
