The search for three-year-old Noah Woods ended with a heartbreaking discovery in Suffolk, leaving his family and an entire community struggling to process an unimaginable loss.

After Noah’s b#dy was recovered from Decoy Pond on September 16, his father, Rhys Woods, shared an emotional message thanking the hundreds of people who had joined the desperate search for his little boy.

“THE SWEETEST AND MOST INNOCENT LITTLE BOY”

Rhys described Noah as “the sweetest and most innocent little boy,” saying his son had “nothing but love to give.”

He wrote that the family was “absolutely heartbroken” and that there were no words to describe the pain of losing their child.

For the family, the search had been filled with hope that Noah might still be found safe. Rhys later described the outcome as the “most heartbreaking” one imaginable, saying they had kept telling themselves that Noah might simply be hiding somewhere nearby and would eventually be found.

A COMMUNITY THAT REFUSED TO STOP SEARCHING

More than 1,300 people joined police, emergency services and specialist search teams during the huge operation after Noah disappeared from a playground in Brantham on September 15.

Residents searched surrounding woodland and fields while emergency crews, police teams, coastguard personnel and other specialists worked alongside them.

Rhys expressed his deepest graтιтude to everyone who searched, donated, organized support, provided supplies or simply sent messages to the family.

He said the compᴀssion shown by strangers had brought the family “comfort and strength at the darkest time” of their lives.

“YOU WILL BE LOVED FOREVER”

In his final message, Rhys spoke on behalf of Noah’s mother and younger brother, promising that the little boy would never be forgotten.

“Noah, you will be loved forever,” he wrote, remembering the short three years his son was with them as a privilege filled with love.

Tributes soon appeared around the playground where Noah had last been seen, with flowers, toys and handwritten messages left by members of the community.

The tragedy has also prompted an extraordinary outpouring of support well beyond Brantham, including tributes from football clubs, players and supporters.

AN INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Suffolk Police have said Noah’s d#ath is not being treated as suspicious, although inquiries were continuing and the circumstances were to be considered by the coroner. A later inquest hearing heard that Noah had apparently left the play area through a gap in the fence before making his way toward the nearby pond.

For Noah’s family, however, the focus now is not only on the unanswered questions, but on remembering the little boy they loved.

A three-year-old who brought joy to his family, touched a community he barely had time to know, and whose memory will remain with the people who searched for him.
