PAYETTE, IDAHO — Two 18-month-old twins were found dad in the same bed on the same morning. More than a year later, their mother was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree mrder.

Dallas and Tyson Shaw were fraternal twins living with their family in Payette, Idaho.

On April 23, 2025, the boys attended their 18-month well-child appointment, where they received routine DTaP, hepaтιтis A and influenza vaccinations.

According to their mother, Andrea Shaw, both children became sick afterward.

The following day, she took them to an emergency room. Andrea later described the twins as extremely ill, saying they were lethargic and had blue lips and sunken eyes.

Medical records reviewed during the investigation, however, reportedly described a different condition. Dallas had a temperature of 99 degrees and decreased activity, while Tyson was documented as “very active.” Both reportedly had good eye contact and were able to drink fluids.

They were discharged.

Andrea said the children continued feeling unwell over the following days. But according to her own later account, the twins appeared to improve on April 30. She said they were active again, eating normally, drinking from their cups and talking normally.

The next morning, May 1, both children were d*ad.

Police were called to the family’s home at approximately 11:30 a.m. after a family member discovered the twins together in the bed they shared.

Investigators immediately treated the deaths as suspicious. Autopsies were performed the following day.

Three days after the children ded, Andrea and her husband appeared on an online program produced by Children’s Health Defense, where Andrea publicly attributed the twins’ daths to their recent vaccinations.

Investigators did not reach the same conclusion.

According to prosecutors, authorities consulted three doctors and examined several possible explanations, including poisoning, carbon monoxide exposure, excessive heat and possible vaccine-related complications.

Prosecutors say those possibilities were ruled out.

They instead allege that Dallas and Tyson were suffocated.

The state has pointed to autopsy findings including pulmonary vascular congestion in both children, while Tyson also had pulmonary edema. A medical expert for the prosecution reportedly testified that the findings were consistent with smothering.

Investigators also questioned Andrea about the twins’ final night.

Prosecutors allege that her account changed during questioning. She reportedly initially described feeding the children breakfast and following their normal routine before later acknowledging that this account was inaccurate.

She also allegedly told investigators that after returning home from being out with a friend, she checked on the twins between approximately 1 and 2 a.m. and saw one child sit up. Prosecutors say she later changed that statement and said she had not actually seen the child sit up.

Investigators believe the twins d*ed around that same period.

The prosecution has emphasized the unusual circumstance that two 18-month-old children d*ed at approximately the same time, in the same room and in the same bed.

More than a year pᴀssed before an arrest was made.

On June 29, 2026, a Payette County grand jury indicted Andrea Shaw on two counts of first-degree m*rder. The indictment alleges that she deliberately suffocated Dallas and Tyson.

She was arrested the following day.

Andrea has pleaded not guilty.

Her defense disputes the state’s theory and maintains that she loved her children and did not harm them. Her attorney has said defense experts are examining medical samples from the twins and are expected to challenge the prosecution’s conclusion that the boys were intentionally suffocated.

The defense has also submitted an affidavit from a physician questioning aspects of the state’s medical conclusions.

A judge initially set Andrea’s bond at $2 million but later revoked it. She is currently being held without bond.

Her jury trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 11, 2027, with several weeks reserved for testimony.

The case remains unresolved, and the allegations against Andrea have not been proven in court.

Ultimately, jurors will have to weigh the medical evidence, investigative findings and competing explanations for how two toddlers could d*e on the same night.

Whatever the eventual outcome, two little children remain at the center of the case.

Dallas and Tyson were twins. They shared a home, a childhood and a bed.

They were only 18 months old.
