The Ohio “House of Horrors” case has taken another unexpected turn after 73-year-old Gary Siders Sr. was declared incompetent to stand trial.

A judge accepted the findings of a court-ordered evaluation, with the ᴀssessment reportedly concluding that Siders’ condition is not considered restorable. The development could significantly affect how the child-endangerment case against him proceeds.

Siders Sr. was one of four adults charged after 16 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years, were found living in deplorable conditions at a Vinton County, Ohio, home in June. The other defendants remain involved in the ongoing legal proceedings.

The latest court development adds another layer to a case that continues to raise questions about what happened inside the home — and what investigators may still uncover.
