Gary Siders Sr., 73, has been found mentally incompetent to stand trial after a court-ordered evaluation concluded that his cognitive condition is not restorable. Siders Sr. faces 16 child-endangerment charges connected to the June 30 removal of 16 children from a home in Hamden, Ohio. The ruling does not resolve the wider case. Siders Sr.’s wife, Christina Siders, his son Gary Siders Jr., and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Siders have also been charged and have pleaded not guilty. Their cases remain ongoing.

The children, who ranged from 18 months to 18 years old when they were removed from the home, are now under county custody and receiving support and therapeutic care. Ohio has also provided emergency funding to ᴀssist with their long-term needs.
