NEARLY ONE YEAR AFTER THEIR LITTLE BOY DIED, JESSE’S FAMILY MET THE CHILD WHO LIVES BECAUSE OF HIS FINAL GIFT

For nearly a year, Jesse James Parra’s family carried the pain of losing their little boy.

Jesse was only 20 months old when a drowning accident changed everything.

For seven days, his family prayed and hoped for a miracle.

But when doctors eventually told them there was nothing more they could do, Jesse’s loved ones were faced with an unimaginable decision in the middle of their grief.

They chose to donate his organs.

It was a decision born from heartbreak, but one that would eventually give other families something Jesse’s family could no longer have: more time.

Jesse’s heart went to another child in Utah.

His liver went to a little boy named Stetson.

And nearly a year later, Jesse’s family finally met him. ❤️

Stetson was born in January 2025, the youngest of six children, all age 7 and under.

Not long after his birth, doctors discovered that he had biliary atresia, a serious condition affecting the liver.

His first months of life were filled with hospital stays, feeding tubes, infections and worsening liver problems.

By the time Stetson was 7 months old, his condition had progressed to liver failure.

He was placed on the transplant list.

For his family, the reality was painfully simple: their baby needed a new liver to survive.

Then, on August 31, 2025, the call came.

The next day, surgeons performed the transplant.

The donor was Jesse James Parra.

At first, the families knew only that Jesse’s final gift had gone to another child.

But as the months pᴀssed, Stetson began showing signs of a new life.

He grew stronger.

His feeding tube was eventually removed.

He learned to eat on his own.

He began reaching milestones his family had once feared they might never witness.

And then came a moment neither family would ever forget.

Almost exactly one year after Stetson’s transplant, Jesse’s loved ones and Stetson’s family decided to meet.

They chose a place that carried enormous meaning.

Jesse’s cemetery.

Jesse’s grandmother, Eileen, admitted she was nervous before seeing Stetson.

But the moment she saw him, something changed.

“I instantly found the connection with him. I saw the blessings the Lord gave us.”

There, beside Jesse’s resting place, his family could finally see what their decision had made possible.

They could see a little boy who was growing.

A little boy who was getting stronger.

A little boy whose future exists in part because, during the darkest moment imaginable, Jesse’s family chose to give another child a chance.

When Jesse’s story was first shared last October, his family knew only that his liver had gone to another child.

Now they know his name.

They know his face.

They know his smile.

His name is Stetson.

And nearly one year later, Jesse’s family was finally able to wrap their arms around the little boy carrying a part of Jesse forward.

Jesse’s life was far too short.

But his story did not end where his family thought it would.

It continued in the life of a child who is now growing, healing and making memories of his own.

Sometimes, even in the deepest heartbreak, love finds a way to keep going. 🕊️💚
