💔🫀 AT JUST 2 YEARS OLD, MAKAIA IS FIGHTING FOR THE CHANCE TO GROW UP 🙏💗

For most parents, the early years are filled with first smiles, first steps, first words, and dreams of everything their child will one day experience. 🌸

For Ellen Maughan, those dreams became something much more precious: a fight for more time with her little girl, Makaia. 🥺🤍

Makaia’s pregnancy had been healthy, and there was no warning that something serious was waiting ahead. But when she was only 2 months old, a routine checkup raised concerns about her growth and development. Doctors sent her to the emergency room, beginning a journey her family never expected. 🏥💔

After extensive testing, specialists suspected Alagille syndrome (ALGS), a rare genetic condition that can affect multiple organs, including the liver, heart, lungs, bones, and eyes.

For Makaia, one of the greatest challenges has been her heart. Her pulmonary arteries remained extremely small, putting tremendous strain on her heart and eventually leading to heart failure. ❤️‍🩹

While other toddlers were learning to walk, talk, and explore the world, Makaia was spending much of her young life surrounded by doctors, hospitals, treatments, and medical procedures.

Yet her family learned to celebrate the smallest victories. 🌷

A stable day.
A good medical report.
A new milestone.
Another smile.

Each one means everything. 🥹💗

But behind every moment of happiness is a mother carrying a fear no parent should ever have to know.

Ellen once put that fear into heartbreaking words:

“How long do I have with you?” 💔

She doesn’t want to think about a life without her daughter.

She wants more birthdays. 🎂
More bedtime stories. 📖
More mornings together. ☀️
More laughter.
More milestones.
More ordinary days that most of us take for granted. 🤍

And despite everything, Makaia continues to smile, grow, and show the incredible strength of a little girl who has already faced so much. 🫀✨

Her diagnosis does not define her.

The road ahead may still be uncertain, but her mother continues to hope for more tomorrows.
