Kate and Gerry McCann have once again publicly underlined their determination to continue the search for their daughter, stating that they believe sustained effort will eventually produce results even though there is currently no major new development to report.

They acknowledged the absence of significant fresh news but expressed confidence that perseverance would ultimately yield progress. The message also included thanks to supporters for their ongoing encouragement, Christmas wishes and shared hope.

The parents reflected more broadly on the suffering of children worldwide. Despite their own long-standing personal circumstances, they said it was impossible to remain unaffected by conflicts, the pain experienced by many families, and the situations of children who have been abducted, killed or left without parents. They closed the statement with a wish that the coming year would bring greater compᴀssion, hope and peace.

Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on 3 May 2007 at the age of three. The case remains one of the most closely followed missing-person investigations in recent decades. German authorities have identified Christian Brueckner as their primary suspect; Portuguese prosecutors formally named him as a suspect in 2022. British police continue to treat the matter as an open missing-person inquiry. In 2023, Portuguese authorities apologised to the McCanns for shortcomings in the early stages of the investigation and for the way the parents were treated as suspects.

In the years since the statement highlighted by LBC, the family has continued to mark key dates with public messages. On the 19th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance in May 2026, Kate and Gerry reiterated that the search continues in pursuit of both answers and a measure of justice, and that they will never give up. They expressed graтιтude for support from friends, family, the public and the authorities still involved in the investigation.

Around the same period in 2026 the couple also commented on a Channel 5 documentary-drama that depicted aspects of the early investigation. They stated they had neither given consent nor been involved in its production and expressed disappointment, noting that such programmes typically have a negative impact on their family.

The Find Madeleine Campaign remains active, and the family continues to balance private life with occasional public updates. Madeleine, if still alive, would now be in her early twenties. The McCanns have consistently maintained that they will keep seeking the truth about what happened to their daughter.
