❤️🙏 She Risked Her Life to Give Her Baby Five More Weeks — Now Both Mother and Son Are Fighting

Ashlie knew her pregnancy had become dangerous, but she was willing to risk her own health to give her unborn baby more time to grow.

Those five extra weeks mattered.

Her son, Liam, was ultimately born at just 23 weeks and 3 days and has spent his entire young life fighting inside a hospital.

Now both mother and baby are facing serious medical battles.

Ashlie is battling stage 4 kidney failure and the early stages of heart failure, while Liam has endured multiple procedures, surgeries and seizures since arriving far earlier than expected.

A week ago, prayers were requested for both of them.

Now, their family has some encouraging news.

Liam has been extubated and is now receiving NIPPV respiratory support. Even more encouraging, his lung X-ray on Friday was reportedly completely clear for the first time since he was born.

For a baby who arrived at just over 23 weeks, that is a major milestone.

His journey, however, is far from over.

Doctors remain concerned that Liam is not gaining weight as quickly as they would like, so his medical team is adjusting his nutritional intake and continuing to monitor him closely.

While Liam continues his fight, his mother is facing her own difficult battle.

According to Autumn, Ashlie experienced a couple of seizures over the weekend and remains exhausted.

Yet amid the fear and uncertainty, something happened that brought this mother a small but deeply meaningful moment of happiness.

Her milk finally came in.

Despite everything her own body is going through, Ashlie remains determined to pump every three hours so she can provide milk for her premature son.

For a mother separated from her newborn by hospital walls, that simple act has become a powerful way to stay connected to him.

As Autumn explained, “It truly is the small things that make her feel connected while being apart!”

Ashlie risked so much to give Liam more time before birth.

Now, even while fighting serious illness herself, she is still finding a way to care for him.

Every bottle of milk is a reminder that she is his mother.

Every improvement from Liam is a reason for hope.

There has also been a small blessing for Autumn, who has spent more than 30 days sleeping on a hospital pullout sofa while staying close to Liam.

On Friday, Ronald McDonald House was finally able to provide her with a room, giving her a real bed for the weekend.

After so many exhausting days, even something as simple as a bed can feel like an enormous gift.

There are still many challenges ahead for this family.

Liam needs to continue growing stronger. His medical team will keep watching his lungs, weight and overall condition.

Ashlie needs strength as she continues fighting her own serious health problems.

And everyone who loves them is holding onto the hope that these two will eventually be reunited somewhere other than a hospital room.

For now, progress is happening — one milestone at a time.

Liam is breathing without the ventilator.

His lungs have shown encouraging improvement.

His mother is providing milk for him despite everything her own body is enduring.

And the family continues to pray.

Please keep Liam and Ashlie in your prayers. 🙏❤️

Pray for Liam’s tiny body to grow stronger.

Pray for Ashlie’s health and strength.

And pray for the day this mother finally gets to hold the little boy she fought so hard to give more time to.

After everything they have endured, that moment would be worth every prayer. ❤️🙏🍼
