💔🙏 Teen’s Senior Year Begins With a Mother’s Fight for Life After Devastating Crash

For 17-year-old Javi, the beginning of her senior year of high school was supposed to be filled with excitement, anticipation and memories she would carry with her for the rest of her life.

Instead, she found herself sitting beside her mother in a hospital, waiting and praying for her to wake up.

According to family members, the terrifying chain of events began early Sunday morning, August 9, in Plano, Texas. Javi’s mother, Myrna, was reportedly driving when her vehicle was rear-ended by a driver the family says was intoxicated.

The impact was devastating.

Family members say Myrna was ejected from her vehicle and thrown approximately 40 feet from the car. Somehow, she survived the crash, but she suffered catastrophic injuries.

Her loved ones say she sustained a severe brain bleed, a broken pelvis, a broken shoulder, as well as injuries affecting her lungs, kidney and liver.

For Javi and the rest of the family, the days that followed were filled with fear and uncertainty.

The teenager had received an emergency alert from her mother’s phone and rushed toward the scene, never imagining that the notification would lead her into one of the most terrifying moments of her life.

Instead of preparing to celebrate the start of her final year of high school, Javi found herself beside her mother’s hospital bed, hoping for even the smallest sign that Myrna was still fighting.

Then, late last week, the family received the kind of news they had been desperately waiting for.

Myrna opened her eyes.

She was taken off the ventilator and began following commands from doctors and nurses. She also started responding to simple yes-or-no questions.

For her family, these developments represented enormous progress after days of uncertainty. For Javi, they offered something even more meaningful — proof that her mother was still there and continuing to fight.

Myrna’s recovery, however, is far from over. Her family expects her to undergo surgery and face a lengthy rehabilitation process as she works to recover from her extensive injuries.

Meanwhile, Javi is beginning her senior year under circumstances she never could have imagined.

Instead of simply worrying about classes, friends and graduation, she is now hoping for the day her mother can come home.

Those close to the family are asking people to surround Myrna and Javi with prayers and support.

They are praying for Myrna’s brain to continue healing, for her body to recover from the tremendous trauma it endured and for her medical team to have wisdom throughout the difficult road ahead.

And they are praying for Javi — a 17-year-old daughter who is facing an unimaginable situation while simply wishing for one thing: to have her mom home again.
