Chinese authorities have significantly expanded disaster relief operations in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region following severe flooding triggered by Typhoon Maysak, as emergency teams continue rescue, evacuation, and recovery efforts across the affected areas.

According to China’s Ministry of Emergency Management, more than 36,000 additional disaster relief items were dispatched to Guangxi on July 7 through a joint operation involving the Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration. The supplies include woven bags, rubber boats, and other equipment needed to support flood response operations.

Authorities also activated an emergency supply mechanism involving government agencies and social organizations. Through this coordinated effort, approximately 40,000 additional relief items—including emergency food, lighting equipment, raincoats, rain boots, and moisture-proof mats—have been delivered to communities affected by the flooding. Officials confirmed that 160,000 central government disaster relief supplies allocated earlier had already reached impacted areas to support evacuation centers and emergency shelters.

Emergency response efforts remain extensive as rescue teams work to ᴀssist displaced residents, monitor rising water levels, and restore access to flooded communities. The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has maintained a Level II flood-control emergency response for Guangxi, while national disaster relief and geological emergency responses also remain in effect due to the continued risk of flooding and landslides.

The flooding has taken a significant humanitarian toll. As of the evening of July 7, authorities reported that six people had died and 11 others remained missing after torrential rainfall ᴀssociated with Typhoon Maysak swept across the region. Approximately 375,000 people have been affected, and around 130,000 residents have been evacuated from high-risk areas as a precaution against further flooding.

In addition to distributing emergency supplies, Chinese authorities have deployed rescue personnel, boats, engineering teams, and other specialized equipment to support ongoing relief operations. Officials continue to inspect dams, reservoirs, and river systems while monitoring weather forecasts for additional heavy rainfall that could worsen conditions in already saturated areas.

Transportation disruptions, flooded roads, and damaged infrastructure have complicated relief efforts in several parts of Guangxi. Emergency responders are working to restore access to isolated communities while ensuring that displaced residents receive food, clean water, medical ᴀssistance, and temporary shelter.

Authorities have urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant, follow evacuation orders when issued, and stay informed through official emergency updates as recovery efforts continue. With additional rainfall still possible, disaster response teams remain on high alert to protect communities and reduce the risk of further casualties.
