Only days after hundreds of people gathered to honor 15-year-old Will Roberts, the Alabama teenager’s story of courage, faith, family and determination continues to resonate far beyond the small community where he grew up.

William “Will” Roberts, from Ralph in Tuscaloosa County, spent the final chapter of his life facing stage IV osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer diagnosed in January 2025. What began as a private family struggle grew into a public journey that touched people across the country — not because of celebrity connections at the start, but because of Will’s own decision to speak out.

In April 2026, Will used his mother Brittney Battles Roberts’ Facebook account to record and share a video. In it, he explained that conventional chemotherapy was no longer controlling the disease and asked for help accessing an experimental treatment known as DeltaRex-G. The message spread quickly, reaching millions of viewers according to national and local reports. The attention eventually helped connect the family with specialists in California, and Will traveled to Santa Monica to begin the experimental therapy.
